Thanksgiving is a bountiful feast for the senses. On the beauty front, the gathering of loved ones can inspire an array of statements that run the gamut from glamorously festive with a stamp of bold lipstick and swish of golden highlighter to insouciantly charming by way of a bare, naturally glowing complexion and rumpled, lived-in lengths. No matter where you fall on that spectrum, a glossy manicure is the ultimate finishing touch.
In finding the right shade, there’s no shortage of inspiration this time of year. From the changing fall leaves to the mouthwatering dishes on the Thanksgiving table, rich, deeper hues dominate in cozy and sumptuous fashion. “When this season comes around, I am inspired by the warm tones and feelings surrounding me, whether it’s in nature or the clothes I start to pull from the back of my closet,” says New York City editorial pro Jin Soon Choi. From a color perspective, this inspires Choi to lean towards toasty tones, like neutral browns, rusty oranges, and deep reds, or something more unexpected, like a verdant pop of color or unique glittery finish. “There’s a lot of texture in our surroundings during this time of year; cable knit sweaters, wool coats, leather, cobblestones, and crunchy leaves,” explains Choi of why an earthy, sandy-textured glitter polish “creates a beautiful, nature-inspired finish that is still subtle enough for all tastes.”
While you can never go wrong with a sleek, monochromatic paint job, there’s plenty of room to get creative with nail art. “These shades all look great together,” says Choi of the natural harmony between the hues that characterize the autumn months, adding that you can embrace a color-blocked paint chip manicure (painting different nail shades on each nail) or add an unexpected graphic accent to make your manicure pop. “If you’re more advanced, try some abstract lines or swatches mixed together for a look resembling nature in the fall!” Scroll on to shop a range of shades for festive Thanksgiving nails.
