‘These climate wars have to end’: Fitzgibbon calls for ‘sensible centre’ consensus

Labor MP Joel Fitzgibbon says the climate wars have to end.

"The best way to get meaningful action on climate change is to build a consensus in the sensible centre," he told Sky News Australia.

"Both of the major parties acknowledge climate change is a problem and a challenge, both say they are committed to doing something about it.

"Yet these climate wars are perpetuated because some on both the right and the left see political advantage in keeping those wars going.

"I think there's a challenge for both the major political parties now to build a consensus; to take the community with us."
