Tina Chen Craig and Laura Kim Are Still Celebrating Lunar New Year
Last night, at an intimate setting in Upper Manhattan, guests flocked to the Chinese restaurant Hutong New York for a feast. Just one week following the mark of the Lunar New Year, co-hosts Tina Chen Craig and Laura Kim are still celebrating the year of the rabbit. The space came alive upon entering and glowed with red lights and traditional Chinese music filled the air. The year of the rabbit is the fourth year of the 12 years within the Chinese zodiac calendar, and according to guest Kimora Lee Simmons who is a “rabbit,” “there are no bad years, but this particular year is all about trying something new and embracing opportunities.”
In partnership with Louis XIII, the co-hosts curated a special dim sum dinner that would finish with a taste of the iconic, rich cognac in a crystal glass for the full experience. Amongst the guests was Nicky Hilton in a dazzling Oscar de la Renta dress fit for the occasion, Fernando Garcia, Philip Lim, Prabal Gurung, and LaQuan Smith, to name a few. Dancers would later captivate everyone with an effortless traditional ribbon arrangement twirling throughout the room.
From caviar to dumplings, the setting was an evening of joy where strangers felt like old friends. Throughout each toast was a message of well wishes, prosperity, luck, and good fortune as the lunar new year nears a still vibrant end.
