Trump remains ‘presumptive nominee’ for Republicans

US Studies Centre CEO Simon Jackman says Donald Trump remains the presumptive Republican nominee for president.

Former president Trump has not yet indicated whether he is planning to run again in 2024 following his defeat to President Biden in 2020.

“He is the de facto head of the Republican Party,” Mr Jackman told Sky News Australia.

“There’s Trump and everybody else and among everybody else there’s this competition for who is best positioned to claim the Trump mantle in the event that Trump doesn’t run.”
