Victoria’s mask rules expected to be relaxed for offices

Victoria’s rules around masks could be relaxed as early as this week with businesses pushing for them to no longer be mandatory in offices.

Occupancy in offices in Melbourne’s CBD is down to 26 per cent of pre-COVID levels with many employees choosing to work from home where they do not have to wear a mask.

The rule change which is being considered by authorities would see workers no longer required to wear masks in offices when they are around people they know all day.

However, masks will still be mandatory for clients and customer facing roles, as well as most indoor settings including supermarkets, retail and public transport.
