WCD Minister Smriti Irani participates in Rashtriya Poshan Maah function in Manipur
Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani participated in the Rashtriya Poshan Maah function held at Imphal in Manipur today. The State Social Welfare Department organised the function in which Chief Minister N. Biren Singh was also present.
Speaking at the function, Ms. Irani said that the Narendra Modi-led government has enshrined the value of democracy in the country by implementing many schemes which are basic rights of a citizen of a democratic country. The Union Government introduced Swachh Bharat Mission, drinking water to every household and cooking gas for citizens. Moreover, he popularized Yoga which symbolized the rich civilization of India.
Now, we have a menstruation hygiene administrative protocol. The sanitary pads are now available at the cost of rupees one in all Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadi Yojana, she said.
Regarding Poshan Bharat Abhiyan, Ms. Irani said that malnourishment is a social, moral and economic issue. Therefore, all the stakeholders including Anganwadi workers and helpers should work dedicatedly to cure the problem of malnourishment.
The Union Minister also highlighted the Prime Minister’s vision for women empowerment and other welfare schemes including Ayushman Bharat which target coverage of ten crore population for medical care. She also dwelt upon Jan Dhan Yojana, distribution of rice and grains, Poshan Abhiyan.
During the function, medicinal plant sapling and nutrient food packages were distributed to the Anganwadi workers and helpers. The Union Minister will be leaving Manipur tomorrow after attending a function at INA Memorial Complex in Moirang.
